Wirral Festival HistoryThe original Bromborough Festival was founded in 1949 to:
”encourage the study of Music and the Arts and to stimulate the interest of the public in an appreciation of the Performing Arts“. 75 years later, the now Wirral Festival of Music is still the home of one of the most challenging of competitive arts festivals in the North West of England. |

In former years...
...the Wirral Peninsula was known for several competitive Arts Festivals, not unlike the iconic Welsh Eisteddfordau. Regrettably, the Wallasey Music Festival, Pensby Festival, and Liverpool & Crosby Festival amongst others have fallen over the years, leaving the Bromborough Festival as the only festival remaining on the Wirral and Merseyside.
As such, in 2008 we renamed ourselves to the Wirral Festival to represent the whole of our peninsula. We want to demonstrate that even in our tiny corner of the UK, the smallest of places can make some of the mightiest musical sounds. |
Our MissionToday we are a registered charity responsible for the planning and organisation of a competitive festival every year designed as a performance friendly environment for competitors of all ages with skills in the performing arts.
